As a Physical Therapist, educating our patients is extremely important and is one of my top priorities during the initial evaluation. Determining your patient’s learning style and adapting to each one, can help build a strong rapport and bond with your patient.
They appreciate you taking the time and going the extra mile to help them feel at ease with the interventions. Don’t be afraid to teach your patients the anatomy of what is causing their symptoms because this will help them put all their faith and trust in you. Not understanding Physical Therapy, what it entails, and the rumors of being in pain all the time can be scary for them.
Do everything you can to make Physical Therapy a positive experience!
